Greetings Toreros!
I am thrilled to welcome you home for the 2013-2014 school year at the University of San Diego! I am honored to serve the student body as President for this upcoming year, and I am looking forward to working on your behalf to make this year spectacular! Throughout my time at USD, I have been fortunate enough to have worked with a wide variety of students, faculty and staff. I have learned so much from these change-agents and am excited to put the leadership they have taught me into action on your behalf this year.
Our incoming team has been working diligently since the spring to prepare for this year. As our Changemaker campus identity continues to evolve, the AS team is excited to continue working on Changemaker initiatives and utilizing the Changemaker Hub, located on the 3rd floor of the SLP, in a very meaningful way. As our AS mission statement states, we are tasked with “enriching a diverse, inclusive, and engaged community.” We are looking forward to carrying on the great work of our predecessors and to continue to move our University forward through honest work, intentional programming, and establishing strong relationships. It is my hope that we will continue to provide a place of education that respects the dignity of each Torero and allows every person to excel in academics and leadership.
Mother Rosalie Hill, our founder, said, “There are three things that are significant in education: beauty, truth, and goodness. But the only one that attracts people on sight is beauty. If beauty attracts people, they will come and find the truth and have goodness communicated to them by the kind of people here.” Our campus is undeniably one of the most beautiful in the country, but the truth behind the beauty is in work of the people. From students to the administration, faculty, and alumni we are co-creating a one-of-a-kind experience for Toreros.
Having been elected by our undergraduate population to serve as President for the 2013-2014 year, I am committed to our mission, vision, and values that have been set forth in the foundation of our University. The incoming team is dedicated to creating a transparent and relational experience for our constituents next year, so please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the team to find out how to get involved, to share a comment or concern, or to just grab coffee!
